Vauxhall astravan, White driven by Unknown

Seen at 07:30 am on 08-Feb-select on Singleton Road Bury Greater Manchester

I was pulling into a filter lane to turn right into singleton road, I could see there was a car turning left from singleton road, then from right behind him the astravan shot out turning right forcing me to slam on, it was -4oC here this morning and the roads where a sheet of ice, my abs went mad trying to stop me and I skidded (from 15mph). he sped off into the distance on the wrong side of the road, It was a works van, it had writing on the side but was all so fast couldn't get any of the details.

Sounds about right, Britain is contaminated by Ford and Vauxhall drivers. Nobody likes them and they keep getting reported like its going out of fashion for a very good reason…

perhaps they get reported a lot because they make up a quarter of all the cars on the road.

Wow that means quarter of the UK’s drivers are aggressive and dangerous. If Fords and Vauxhalls make up a quarter of the car population on the road, thats a terrible figure for poor driving standards. So terrible the government might aswell slash speed limits and get rid of the highway code and the road traffic act because with Fords and Vauxhalls around the law is broken enough and the cars are as common as pigs s**t so thats a big enough ratio of law breaking to come to the conclusion: Is it worth having the Highway code and Road Traffic Act? I think every badly driven Ford/Vauxhall in the UK should be towed away by the Police and crushed and any other car that isn’t a Ford/Vauxhall should be exempt. Might teach them a lesson!

there is just one small problem with your plan, nearly all the police in the north west drive fords & vauxhalls so who will tow away their cars?

I didn’t mention the Police having their cars towed away and crushed. On duty Police officers and all other emergency services using squad Fords and Vauxhalls will be exempt from car crushing. Civilian Fords and Vauxhalls will be crushed!!!

I thought all Fords & Vauxhalls were driven by crap drivers? How come all of a sudden emergency vehicles are exempt? Surely a Ford is a Ford, whether it’s driven by a neanderthal with only 2 brain cells to rub together or by a police officer! Sounds like somebody’s changing his own rules to suit!

Fords and Vauxhalls can be “forced on reluctant drivers” hence the name F.O.R.D especially if its an emergency services vehicle because the poor paramedic/cop didn’t choose to be shoved in it they were given it. Police officers and other blue light trained personnel who are forced to drive the American turd lumps are properly trained drivers so they would be better than the average civilian Ford/Vauxhall driver. Non EMS Ford and Vauxhall drivers all think they are as good as Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel and they think they are better drivers then the emergency services. There used to be a user on here called Subby who used to drive a Volvo V70. Subby’s son or nephew (Can’t remember which) was a traffic cop. His constabulary had Volvo V70′s and they got rid of them in favour of the new Mondeo’s after 2007. Subby’s son/nephew said all the officers were not looking forward to the Mondeo’s because they had to spend long shifts in them and after just two years the force said they were a costly mistake, a load of unreliable rubbish, none of the officers liked them. They were prolific fuel drinkers the cars fell apart and never lasted long so they sold off the fleet and opted for Skoda Octavia VRS’s instead.

what if the driver of the emergency vehicle also owns a ford or a vauxhall, would they have to tow their own car away whilst they are not on duty?

If you spent entire shifts in Fords/Vauxhalls the last thing you would want to do is jump back in one. Besides most of the EMS vehicles are Volvo V70′s and BMW 3/5 series estates. They only use Fords as training cars or paperwork run abouts, in Hampshire the Focuses are used for blue light training and for most of the non emergency call outs and the Fiestas are just beat patrols and paperwork runners.
