Why is that most people are driving below the speed limit. 40 on a 60 road is ridiculous and when you over take them they flash their lights at you. Mainly women and old people are the offenders.

They are entitled to drive at 40 mph in a 60 limit and are within the law to do so unless a minimum speed limit has been stated. Just because the limit is 60 does not mean you have to do 60.

But needlessly holding up a queue of traffic can be deemed an offence in certain circumstances. It’s just the police will very rarely do anything about it since they will prioritise other issues (or just be lazy, but I am not wanting to diss the police who have been nothing but ace to me).
Someone driving at 40mph when it is easily safe to do 60mph is showing lack of awareness, skill or confidence. These are the traits that cause accidents.
You also find this kind of people will like always drive 40mph in 60mph, no matter what the conditions are like, or how bad the road is.

The words Nissan Micra. Strike fear and dread into any other road users heart.
Don’t get frustrated by them, yes they only do 40 or less, just toot and wave (kindly) it’ll make their world so much brighter.

Actually Jonny Reb, the highway code states that you MUST NOT unneccesarily slow/hold up traffic or cause a long queue.
The 60mph should be driven to when conditions are clear and safe.
On a seperate point – what gives these slow drivers the right to hold up everyones elses lives. If they like going slow why don’t they catch the bus.

Well said Best Driver Evar.
You’ll also find that they drive a constant 40mph whether they are going though a 30mph limit or whether they are going through a 50mph limit or when they are going through a 60mph limit.
It’s almost like their leg has seized up and they cant push it down further or take it off the accelerator.

But there are loads of people that drive around like mental patients at a billion mph and they don’t have points etc either. Having no points isn’t an indication of how good or safe a driver you are.

Same as above really. If people always have accidents and points because of driving like idiots. We wouldn’t have idiots driving around on the road as they would all be banned or dead etc…

Old Person. Listen you fool!!! You may not have been in an accident in 40+ years, but I bet you have caused 100′s by people trying to get past you. Try using 2nd, 3rd, 4th or even 5th gear sometimes.

no cant remember seeing a trail of carnage in my mirror or many head on accidents caused by mr or mrs impatient who cant wait to get past then get 10 seconds further up the road to the next car/lorry/bus/tractor/traffic light/roadworks/roundabout etc etc . and if you could refrain from calling me a fool please.also as i have a cvt drive it may be difficult to get 2nd/3rd/4th/5th gear.
