Vauxhall Corsa, Black driven by Male
Seen at 04:15pm on 16-May-2011 on A 256 Cliffsend Kent
Overtook me just before a traffic island with oncoming traffic very close. I was doing 40 mph in a 40 mph limit, then he speed off at 70mph. He then got stuck in traffic as I caught him up. Then he overtook other drivers dangerously on a roundabout at Richborough. Young boy racer in a hot hatch, danger to himself and other road users.

I’ve owned a number of vauxhalls, Astra’s Corsa’s Nova’s Cavaliers and Vectras and the one thing I have noticed is that in comparison to the Fords and Renaults I have owned the build quality and the strength of the engines if far better in the Vauxhalls. Thats why the boy racers have the corsas they are solid and take the abuse so they can thrash about like idiots and not find themselves pushing the car out of an out of town retail park.

*Clap clap clap* I agree with you wholeheartedly VXR. I am no fan of Vauxhalls by any means I am more a VAG fan but I will lay down the law. Its funny how a Vauxhall equivelent engine of a Ford engine is always like a size up to a Ford with more power. Even though its not supposed to be that way. Either that or Ford are utterly useless at performance. You have to hand it to Vauxhall at least they lean far less on independant companies to help them out for engineering and developments. They have always held their own against Ford with their own chassis and their own engines except for the Fiat diesels. You have to give them credit on that and they did it well. I think Vauxhalls are better if you ask me despite the anti-GM badge snobbery that goes on. I cannot justify how Ford is a better car? Why? Is it because Clarkson told you it is better? The slop that spilled out of Dagenham was far worse then what came out of Ellesport. They are not only cheaper, they don’t fall apart left-right-and centre and they are so much more comfortable for you and your passengers with much better road manners. I know Vauxhalls all leave Ellesport with about 8,000 different biting points and they do have annoyingly poppy gears but at least their brakes and handling is always well sorted if anything. Fords are the opposite, they have 8,000 different braking points beneath the pedal and they leave the factories with wobbly handling sometimes. On that note you could say Vauxhall got the priorities of the main safety aspects right. I did work for Enterprise rent a car down at Southampton airport so I did test drive nearly everything.

SLFR. Why do you keep mentioning Ellesmere Port and Dagenham? Both the Fiesta and Corsa are made in Spain.

I have to agree with FF.
If you’re enthusiastic about cars, the corsa is beaten hands down by the fiesta on comfort, handling, driver engagement performance, equipment engineering and reliability.
If you’re not interested in any of these things then look to Korea for a cheaper tin box with a better warranty.

If you are at all interested in cars you wouldn’t be seen dead in either a fiesta or a corsa for fecks sake! boring, slow and bland.

thinks SLFR1985 is so full of his self importance he cannot listen to any other point of view.He is right, everyone else is wrong and i for one am pretty sick of him.But because of a few people unable to think for themselves just blindly agree with this opinionated fool.

Well said al. “the corsa is beaten hands down by the fiesta on comfort, handling, driver engagement performance, equipment engineering and reliability. If you’re not interested in any of these things then look to Korea for a cheaper tin box with a better warranty.”
Call yourself an Enthusiast? You should be a comedian instead.
The Corsa beats it hands down on build quality, value, refinement, space, engines, gearboxes, brakes and rust proofing. Not everyone wants to drive round in a car thats revolved around the driver and nothing but the driver. But is that all the Fiesta can offer, driver involvement? It has nothing else going for it. I don’t know why you still insist on Koreans making “Tin boxes” because they don’t. I worked for a rental company chump and Kia have stepped up the game quite a bit. My suggestion to you is to get out of your little Dagenham dustbin with that circled badge problem for once and drive one. You might be surprised. Fords are made for no brainers and I can see why.

FedUpWithSLFL1985: And I’m not the one who thinks its right when idiots don’t have to give way at roundabouts. Apparently its the drivers fault for not noticing them when they fail to give way. Even if the driver can’t see to the left its still the drivers fault. Even though its breaking the law of the Road Traffic Act 1988 Section 2 its still the drivers fault and not the idiots fault.

I go round never giving way at roundabouts in my green tin can Mitsubishi Cult. Even though the highway code specifically states that giving way to the right is compulsory and failure to give way can cause a serious accident. With a £150 fine and 4 points for a CD** or even DD30/40, its ok to cut someone up despite this. I get my kicks out of doing this and its the only excitement I ever get in my dull uneventful life. I am going to keep cutting infront of people until SLFR1985 borrows his mates Toyota Hilux Surf and kills me with it. I would like to see him get locked up and convicted but unforunately I will be dead when that happens and I won’t see SLFR getting off lightly because it wasn’t his fault. Apparently it will be my fault. I have a Cult 1.3i and I am fed up with life I feel I have to do inappropriate things on the road because I don’t have anything to look forward to or look up to so I must annoy other people to compensate for my tiny little cocktail sausage.

I have to agree a bit with SLFR about Ford, they seem to lose guts out of their engine once they hit a certain age. Ive not seen it in many other vehicles where the performance goes from good to woeful so quick

LEW15: I know someone who had a Fiesta ST 2.0 16V and it did exactly that. It was supposed to be 150Bhp and it was mean’t to do 0-60 in 7.9 but it was more like 8.5. It was well looked after, fully serviced by Ford but it went down on power. My sisters boyfriends W reg 2.0 16V Peugeot 206 GTi is faster and thats only 138bhp. Its an old car but it still goes like stink with the same perkiness as when it left the factory. It hasn’t lost a single NM of torque power or decline in Bhp and its hit 147,000 miles. Those Duratec engines are a bit rough there isn’t much in the way of refinement. Though ST170′s were the biggest sufferers of power loss. Iv’e always found Fords to have a poor power/weight ratio anyway which seems strange. You would think that the rusting Fords suffer from would weaken the bodyshell in favour of making them lighter. So the performance on power/weight ratio should go up instead of down lol. Maybe Ford calculated this would happen in the future and designed the engines to lessen in power as the rusting cars get lighter with age. That is very clever indeed. The idea is very innovative. Ford are very masterful at engineering aren’t they? Lol.
